About the programme
The Blue Deal is helping to improve how water resources are managed in Mozambique by forming partnerships between the Dutch Water Authorities and the ARAs/SASB.
For many years, Mozambique and the Netherlands have been working together on various water management issues. In 2019, a partnership called the Blue Deal was established between the two countries.
The Blue Deal Programme is a set of partnerships between the Dutch Water Authorities (DWA) and 15 countries around the world to improve access to clean, safe and sufficient water.
These partnerships aim to reach 20 million people worldwide. One million of them are in Mozambique.
Mozambique is a country severely affected by climate change. This is one of the main issues addressed by our partnership. In addition, gender equality, the active participation of vulnerable social groups, securing the future availability of water and the conservation of ecosystems are also key issues in the partnership.

We seek to strengthen the operational, relational and organisational capacity of the ARAs and the SASB. We expect these partners to become more robust and sustainable organisations, able to adequately operate and maintain their infrastructure and provide good quality services to their customers.
